Lead the Design of Critical Water Infrastructure Our client is a well-established New Zealand engineering and construction business delivering innovative water and wastewater treatment solutions across municipal and industrial sectors.

Their integrated design-and-build approach has earned them a strong reputation for delivering complex infrastructure projects that support sustainable communities throughout New Zealand.

As the business continues to grow, they're seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join their Auckland-based team and take a leading role in the design and delivery of water and wastewater treatment projects from concept through to commissioning.

About the Role

This is a senior technical position offering genuine ownership and variety. You'll lead process design across multiple projects, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, construction professionals and clients to deliver practical, high-performing treatment solutions.

From early concept development through to commissioning support, you'll play a key role in shaping project outcomes while providing trusted technical expertise across the full project lifecycle.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Auckland, with regular travel to project sites as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead process engineering design across water and wastewater treatment projects.
  • Deliver complete design packages from concept through detailed design and commissioning support.
  • Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
  • Provide technical advice and consult directly with municipal and industrial clients.
  • Support construction and commissioning to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Develop innovative, practical process solutions that meet client and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage multiple projects while maintaining high standards of quality and technical excellence.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the engineering team.

About You

You're a highly experienced process engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and delivering practical solutions that make a real difference.

You'll ideally bring:

  • A degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Fifteen or more years' experience in process engineering within the water and/or wastewater sector.
  • Strong experience delivering projects from concept design through to commissioning.
  • Extensive knowledge of biological treatment processes including MBR, SBR, MBBR and associated technologies, or significant expertise in membrane water treatment and conventional water treatment systems.
  • A sound understanding of New Zealand Drinking Water Standards.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the confidence to work independently and lead technical delivery.
  • The flexibility to travel to project sites when required.
  • A collaborative approach and genuine passion for delivering exceptional outcomes for clients.
