Working across municipal and industrial sectors, they specialise in complex design-and-build projects that contribute to sustainable communities and environmental outcomes.

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer (Mechanical) to join their growing multidisciplinary team. This role offers the chance to lead civil engineering delivery across significant infrastructure projects while working alongside highly skilled professionals in a collaborative environment.

About the Role

This is a varied position that combines technical leadership with practical project involvement. You'll lead civil engineering design from concept through to detailed design, provide technical assurance throughout delivery, and support construction activities as projects move to site.

Predominantly office-based, the role also includes site visits and construction observation as required, giving you the opportunity to stay connected to project delivery without spending extended periods away from home.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity based in either Auckland or Timaru, with travel to project sites when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead civil engineering design across all project phases, from concept through to detailed design.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and process engineering teams to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Identify design risks, resolve constructability challenges and manage discipline interfaces.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables meet New Zealand standards, regulatory requirements and quality expectations.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and support to engineers and designers.
  • Assist construction teams through technical advice and site observation where required.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, calculations and technical reports.
  • Contribute to design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You You're an experienced civil engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while mentoring others and contributing to successful project delivery.

You'll ideally bring:

  • A Civil Engineering degree (BE or equivalent).
  • Seven or more years' experience delivering civil engineering design projects.
  • Strong expertise in earthworks, drainage and utility design.
  • Experience working on water, wastewater or comparable infrastructure projects.
  • The ability to coordinate civil engineering requirements alongside mechanical systems and plant.
  • A sound understanding of the complete project lifecycle and construction methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work autonomously while thriving within a collaborative team environment.
  • Flexibility to travel to project sites as required.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality engineering outcomes and building strong client relationships.
