Workplace mediation that helps people move forward.

Confidential workplace mediation that helps employers, employees and teams work through conflict constructively, restore communication and find practical solutions everyone can move forward with.

What workplace mediation actually is

Mediation is a confidential, structured conversation facilitated by an independent mediator. It isn't a disciplinary meeting, an investigation or a hearing. No one decides who is right or wrong. Instead, the process gives everyone the opportunity to be heard, better understand each other's perspective and work towards an outcome they can all accept.

Because the process is confidential, people are often able to have conversations they simply couldn't have elsewhere. Many workplace disputes are resolved through mediation, avoiding lengthy formal processes, reducing stress and allowing people to focus on moving forward.

Why experience matters

Every workplace is different, and every conflict has its own history. With more than three decades of legal, mediation and dispute resolution experience, our Principal Denise Evans understands that resolving conflict isn't simply about following a process, it's about understanding people.

Her experience spans employment, commercial, governance, family, government, iwi and community matters, allowing her to navigate complex situations with professionalism, empathy and impartiality. People are far more likely to reach agreement when they feel genuinely heard, respected and understood.

Our approach

Every mediation begins with confidential discussions with each participant, allowing everyone the opportunity to explain their perspective before coming together. From there, we design a process which will facilitate a respectful conversation focused on understanding the issues, identifying common ground and exploring practical solutions.

Mediations can be held in person or online, depending on the needs of the parties and the circumstances involved. Where agreement is reached, the outcome is documented clearly so everyone leaves with certainty about the way forward. If agreement isn't reached, participants still leave with a clearer understanding of the issues and remain free to pursue any other available resolution pathway.

Common questions

Asked often, answered straight.

Is workplace mediation confidential?

Yes. Mediation is a confidential process. Because of that confidentiality, people are often able to have conversations they couldn't have elsewhere, which is part of why so many disputes resolve at mediation.

Is mediation the same as a disciplinary meeting or investigation?

No. Mediation isn't a disciplinary meeting, an investigation or a hearing, and no one decides who is right or wrong. It gives everyone the chance to be heard, understand each other's perspective and work towards an outcome they can all accept.

Can mediation be held online?

Yes. Mediations can be held in person or online throughout New Zealand, depending on the needs of the parties and the circumstances involved.

What happens if we don't reach agreement?

Participants still leave with a clearer understanding of the issues and remain free to pursue any other available resolution pathway. Where agreement is reached, the outcome is documented clearly so everyone has certainty about the way forward.
